After hearing it over and over again, you know “the money is in the list”. You have finally made the decision to set yourself up to collect names and email addresses. There is no doubt that the money is in the list, it’s like your personal ATM if you take good care of your lists.
One of the crucial things you need to do is to give more than you get and it is absolutely imperative that you gain the trust of your prospects. One of the best ways to go about building trust is to write articles and give people the kind of value they are looking.
Another way to build up trust amongst your target group is to join in on forums, You have to let people get to know you first. They have to be assured by you and your deeds before they make a purchasing decision. Seems like a lot of work doesn’t it? Well the reality is that it is going to be a lot of work.
The truth of the matter is your group that you are targeting are only going to Buy from you when they feel comfortable with you, and your knowledge. Also by joining forums you will gain a lot more benefit than just gaining trust. This is the beginning of building relationships.
You’ll also walk away with knowledge of their wants and desires and often times come away with great product ideas. It’s pretty simple people buy from people they like. If it isn’t something you know already, when it comes to forums after you have been there a while you can add a link or a sig file to your forum post that directs people to your site.
Another way to approach the list building process is to create a relationship with someone who has already done it and let them guide you through the process. People actually do like to help. They will be able to guide you through what not to do and what worked best for them.
Non of this is rocket science and it requires a lot of patience on your part and if you can set your goals and meet your first goal then move on and improve on that you’ll soon have a list of 2000 then 5000 then 10000. It will all become second nature to you.
